Derick grew up outside Walton, Ontario, rural farming community. The third generation in a family of butchers, he operates a small meat packing plant that was started by his grandfather. Derick grew up learning the trade of meat cutting and after high school decided to go straight into the meat packing business.
Bachert Meats now manages everything from the farm all the way to the restaurant.
Derick and his wife live on a farm outside Walton and have four kids to keep them busy. He especially enjoys being outside doing many different activities with the kids.
