Jim Fairles

Jim Fairles has had extensive veterinary practice experience in multiple livestock species (swine, dairy, beef, and small ruminants), and in his current position at the University of Guelph, Animal Health Laboratory brings a broad understanding of issues around testing, surveillance and antimicrobial stewardship.

Dr. Fairles is a past president of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), current CVMA representative on the National Farmed Animal Health and Welfare Council, past CVMA representative and chair of the Canadian Animal Health Coalition  and is a past Veterinarians Without Borders board member. In 2002-2003, he was the Swine Veterinarian for Agriteam Canada in Beijing, China responsible for the delivery of the Canadian International Development Agency - China Canada Animal Health Initiative. He is also immediate past president of the Canadian Association of Swine Veterinarians.
